Language placement test: Online and for free
Welcome to the Berlitz online level test for English, German, French, Spanish and Italian. After completing the test you will receive an indication about your current proficiency level in the respective language.

- Carefully read the instructions on the intro page of the test, after entering your data.
- The test will take approximately 30 to 40 minutes and must be taken at once, without interruption.
- After completing the test your results will be displayed immediately. More detailed test results will be sent to your e-mail address.
How the level test works
The placement test will assess your vocabulary, listening comprehension, reading comprehension skills and your grammar. For general placement tests, you will receive a total score and a score based on the CEF Proficiency scale. For the Berlitz level test you will receive a general score. Technical Requirements
Please be sure your computer or smartphone meet the following requirements to ensure the level test performs properly:
- Latest version of a browser like Safari, Chrome, or Firefox
- Supported OS like Win10, Win8, Win7 or latest iOS version, or latest versions of iOS, Android or Windows Phone when using on a phone
- Stable internet connection
- Sound card, external speakers, or a headset
- Disable the pop-up blockers and ensure that the firewall is not blocking access to the test
